Cemetery Location:  1.2 miles east of Hopewell, Virginia, on Route #10; thence 
                    .4 mile south on Route #651; thence .9 mile southwest on 
                    Route  #644; thence .4 mile west on Route #646; thence .6 
                    mile north on a private road.
                    Prince George Co., Virginia


DATE:

1814, date of oldest grave [marker]

OWNERS:

Jerry C. Charvatt is the present owner [1937].  The property can not be traced 
back to the Stainback family.

DESCRIPTION:

This graveyard is about fifteen feet square and is grown-up in bushes and 
several large hickory trees.

Three of the graves have tombstones, all of which have fallen down.  The 
inscriptions on two of the stones are completely illegible and one partly.  On 
one grave was a tombstone which has fallen down on the ground and broken in 
several pieces.  A part of the inscription is legible.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

The inscriptions are as follows:

_____ Stainback
Died the 25th of July, 1814
Aged 3 mo. and 20 days.
Inscribed to the memory of Sarah Stainback whose exemplary worth was displayed 
in the various situations of the wife, parent and friend.
In the forty-third year of her age death severed these endearing ties.
____ the remains of her infant Sarah who is laid in the same grave.

Three other of her children who died in infancy are to the left of their mother.

This is caused to be erected by her husband as a memorial of the many blessings 
from Him on Earth; to be restored, we trust, in Heaven.
