SURRY COUNTY, VA - COURT - Appointment Of Capt. John Allen, Attorney for Ruth Minge, 14 Apr 1712 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- KNOW ALL men by these presents that I, Ruth Minge, the wife of James Minge of the parish of Martins Brandon in the County of Prince George in Virginia do hereby authorize, impower, ordain, constitute, & appoint my loving friend Capt. John Allen of the County of Surry my true & lawfull attorney for me & in my name place & stead to appear at Surry County courts before the justices of the said county in court & then & there for me & to my voc vin my stead & place to acknowledge my sale is my free consent of my relinquishment of dower or Thirds which I now have or hereafter might have claime or right to (by reason of the marriage with the said James, my said husband) of in & to a certain tract or parcell of land containing five hundred & forty acres lying in Surry County, formerly held by my said husband in his name sold to Thomas Holliday & his heirs by deeds of sale, the Deed of Release bearing even? date herewith which said deed is by my said husband to be acknowledged to the said Holliday & his heirs &c. at the said next court & I do hereby impower my said attorney at the same court & time when my said husband or his order shall acknowledge the said recited deed: to acknowledge my sale of my thirds on the Relinquishment of Dower in the said lands & premises granted to the said Holliday & his heirs forever which said acknowledgments by my said attorney for me made & done shall be my effectuall deed in law to all intents, constructions & purposes as if myself were personally present continually ratifying all & whatsoever my said attorney shall lawfully act or do in or about the premises.
