Goodrich/Hatch Deed, 1721 - Prince George Co.VA. Deed - Margaret Goodrich to John Hatch - 1721 (Deeds etc. 1713-28, page 501, Prince George Co.VA.) BE IT KNOWN unto all men by these presents, that wheras the Estate of Edward Goodrich Late of the County of Prince George dec'ed. is Indebted unto Divers persons, so as there appears to be an absolute occasion of Selling and Disposeing of one Negro Slave, Late of the Estate of the said Edward Goodrich for payment and satisfaction of some Debts due from the said Edward. NOW KNOW YEE that I Margaret Goodrich Executrix of the Last Will and Testament of the said Edward Goodrich haveing well considered the matter aforesaid, for the consideration of thirty pounds current mony to me in hand paid by John Hatch of the County Gentleman, whereof I do hereby acknowledge the receipt; Have bargained, sold & Delivered, and by these presents do fully clearly and absolutely bargain,sell & deliver unto the said John Hatch one certain Negro Woman Slave, called by the name of Sary, Late the Estate of the aforesaid Edward Goodrich. TO HAVE and to hold the said Negro unto the said John Hatch his heirs, Executors, administrators & assigns for ever. AND I the said Margaret Goodrich Executrix aforesaid for my selfe my heirs, Executors and administrators the said bargained premisses unto the said John Hatch his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns,against all persons shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I the said Margaret Goodrich have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my Seal this tenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred, twenty one.- Margaret Goodrich Seald w'th. a wafer. At a Court held at Merchants Hope for Prince George County on the second Tuesday in November, being the fourteenth day of the said month Anno Dom: 1721. The next before written Deed for a Negro (Seald) was in open Court acknowledged by Margaret Goodrich the subscriber thereto, to be her act & Deed to John Hatch named therein, on whose motion the same by order of the Court is truly recorded.
