All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm OBLIGATION BETWEEN JAMES MINGE AND THOMAS HOLLIDAY 29 AUG 1712 KNOW ALL men by these presents that I, James Minge of the County of Prince George in Virginia am held & firmly bound unto Thomas Holliday of the parish of Willmington in the County of James Citty in Virginia, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns in the just sume of five hundred pounds sterling for which payment will & truly to be made. I bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with my seale dated this twenty-ninth day of August in the eleventh year of the reign of our Lady Queen Anne of Great Brittain, Ffrance & Ireland Anno. Dom. one thousand seven hundred & twelve. THE CONDITION of the above obligation is such that whereas the said above bound James Minge hath sold & conveyed to the said Thomas Holliday & his heirs & assigns five hundred & forty acres of land in Surry County for the consideration mentioned & expressed in the Deed of Sale or the Indenture of Release made & executed by the said Minge to the said Holliday & his heirs for letting, granting & conveying the same which deed bears date the same day with the above bond of which advantages of release is mentioned & expressed divers articles, grants, covenants and agreements by the said James Minge & his heirs & assigns to be obeyed, performed & kept. NOW if the said James Minge, his heirs, executors & administrators & every of them shall well & truly from time to time at all times hereafter obey, observe, perform, fullfill & keep all & every the articles, covenants, clauses, grants & agreements which is mentioned & comprised in the said Indenture of release which is his & their parts ought to be obeyed, observed, performed, fullfilled & kept so that the said Holliday, his heirs, & assigns may forever hereafter quietly & peaceably possess & enjoy the same granted lands & premises mentioned, this said recited Indenture & be not deprived, ousted, molested or ejected from the same or any parts or parcell thereof and for the said Minge & his wife shall & do legally acknowledge the said conveyances in the next court held for Surry County to the said Holliday, his heirs &c so that he or they may have, hold, enjoy & possess the same forever according to the true intent & meaning of the said recited Indenture of sale &c then this above bond to be void & of no effect or elce to be & remain in full force, power & virtue.
