Raines/Raines Deed, 1715 - Prince George Co. VA (Deeds etc. 1713-28, page 64, Prince George Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made this fifth of July in the first year of the reign of our Soveraign King George and in the year of our Lord 1715. Between William Rains of Prince George County of the one part and Thomas Raines of the said County of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Raines for the natural affection I bear to my son Thomas Rains and for and in consideration of one shilling of current money to me in hand paid by the said Thomas Rains the receipt whereof the said William Raines doth acknowledge to be fully satisfied and paid and for Divers other causes and considerations him there unto moving hath Demised Bargained sell Leased and to farm sett unto the said Thomas Rains his heirs and assigns all that parcel or tract of Land situated Lying and being in Prince George County and on the North side of Joans hole swamp it being part of a tract of Land taken up and pattented by James Salmon, begining on the upper side of the great branch on Joans hole swamp thence to the full extent of the pattent being by estimation seaventy six acres be it more or less with all houses orchards woods waters ways underwoods priviledges and advantages there unto belonging with the Royalty of Hunting Hawking fishing and Fowling with all mines minerals and quarries and all other appurtenances there unto belonging to have and to hold the said premisses and appurtenances and every part thereof unto the said Thomas Rains his heirs Executors and assigns from the day of date hereof for and during the full term of three years fully to be compleat and ended yielding and paying for the same yearly upon the 10th November for rent of one ear of indian corn if the same shall be demanded unto the said William Raines his Executors and admin'rs. to the intent and purpose that by virtue of these presents and the statute for transferring uses into possessions the said Thomas Rains may be in actual and peaceable possession of the before granted premisses and may be thereby better enabled to accept of a grant or conveyance of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him and his heirs for ever. In witness thereof the said William Raines hath hereunto sett his hand and seale the day year above written.
