Raines/Raines Deed, 1715 - Prince George Co. VA (Deeds etc. 1713-28, page 65, Prince George Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made the sixth day of July in the first year of the reign of our soveraign Lord King George and in the year of our Lord God 1715. Between William Raines of Prince George County of the one part and Thomas Raines of the said County of the other part witnesseth that the said William Raines for the natural affection I bear to my son Thomas Rains and for and in consideration of a valuable sum of money to me in hand paid by the said Thomas Rains before the Sealing and Delivery thereof and doth by these presents acknowledge himselfe to be there within satisfied, and thereof doth acquit and release the said Thomas Rains his heirs Executors and adm'rs. by these presents have granted aliened bargained sold demised released enfeoffed transferred, and doth by these presents for himselfe and his heirs grant alien bargain sell demise release enfeoff transfer and confirm unto the said Thomas Raines and to his heirs and assigns for ever all the right title intrest use possession revertion claime and demand of him the said William Rains his Executors Administrators of in or to all that seat tract plantation parcel or Dividend of Land situate Lying and being in Prince George County and on the North side of Jones hole swamp begining on the watercourse of the great branch and up the swamp to the full extent of the pattent being by estimation seaventy six acres, be it more or less, together with all houses & every woods underwoods, priviledges, and appurtenances thereunto belonging all mines minerals and quarries therein contained together with all the royaltys of Hunting Hawking fishing and fowling, the said Thomas Rains being already in full and peaceable possession by virtue of a lease for the same made by the said William Rains for the term of three years bearing Date the day before the Date hereof, to have and to hold the said tract or Dividend of Land and all other the before granted premisses and every part thereof with the appurtenances unto the Thomas Rains his heirs and assigns for ever in as large and ample manner to all intents and purposes as he the said William Rains or his heirs might or enjoy the same, the said William Rains for himselfe his heirs and assigns doth further promise covenant and agree to with the Thomas Rains his heirs and assigns that the said Demised premises and every part thereof are free and clear from any former gifts grants bargains sailes titles Dowers or other incumbrances whatsoever which may any ways hinder or disturb the said Thomas Rains his heirs or assigns from the peaceable and quiet possession and enjoyment thereof and that the said Thomas Rains his heirs and assigns paying the quit rents which from time to time that shall become due for the same shall peaceably quietly have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said granted premisses and every part thereof with the appurtenances and have and receive and take the rents issues and profitts thereof to his and their use and benefitts forever and that the said William Rains his heirs and assigns doth further covenant & agree to and with the said Thomas Rains his heirs and asigns the said Demised premisses and every part thereof to warrant unto the said Thomas Raines his heirs Executors admins. and asigns against all persons that hereafter shall or may have claims challenge any right title or intrest by from or under him or his heirs. Epes At a Court held for the County of Prince George on the second tuesday in July 1715: being the twelfth day of the said month. The above written Deed of release of Land (Sealed) was in open Court acknowledged by William Raines the subscriber thereto to be his act and Deed to the therein named Thomas Rains and his heirs for ever, on whose motion the same by order of the Court is here truly recorded.
