Prince George Co., VA Deed - James Salmon to William Raines 1707 (Deeds, Etc. 1713-28, page 66, Prince George Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made the first day of May in the six year of the reign of our Soveraign lady Queen Anne and in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and seven between James Salmon in the County of Surry planter of the one party, and William Rains of the parish of Westopher in the County of Prince George planter of the other part witnesseth that he the said James Salmon for a valluable consideration of forty shillings in hand rece'd: according to agreement between them both for himselfe and his heirs given granted bargained and sold aliened assigned over enfeoffed and confirmed and doth by these presents fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien assign over and enfeoff and confirm to him the said Wiliam Rains his heirs and assigns one parcel of land in the present possession and occupation of him the said William Rains with all the priviledges profitts and emolluments whatsoever, the said parcel containing one hundred seaventy and six acres of Land more or less, situate and lying in the County of Prince George, begining upon Joans hole at the mouth of the ready branch that runs up between Capt.Mallory's plantation and the said Rains plantation and so up the said Branch to the Line at a marked gum thence up the said Line according to the courses of the pattent to a mark hiccory on the swamp side thence down the said swamp as it wind____ to the mouth of the said Branch, where it begun. To have and to hold the said one hundred seaventy six acres of Land more or less with all other the appurtenances whatsoever to him the said William Rains his heirs and assigns for ever in of Large and ample manner to all intents and purposes as he the said James Salmon or any other might or could enjoy the same and further the said James Salmon doth for himselfe his heirs Executors and administrators covenant promise and agree to and with the said William Rains his heirs and assigns that he the said James Salmon is at present rightfully sized of the said Land by all indefeisable title in Law and that the said Land is at present free and clear and is and shall be warranted and maintained free and clear from all former bargains sale gift grant Dower Estate title claims or intrest made by him the said James Salmon or his heirs or by any person claiming under him or his heirs or by or with his present consent or procurement and that the said William Rains his heirs or assigns shall peaceably and quietly possess and enjoy all the before recited premisses without the ____ hindrance or molestation of him the said James Salmon or his heirs. Att a Court held for the County of Prince George on the second tuesday in July Anno Domini 1715. being the twelfth Day of the said month. The above written Deed of Land from James Salmon to William Raines was presented into Court by the said Raines with the above mentioned endorsement thereon of the assignment of the Lands in sd.Deed mentioned to Richard and Thomas Raines, and acknowledged the same to be his act and Deed, and on the motion of the sd.Richard etc.the sd.Deed together with the sd.endorsement by order of the Court are here truly recorded.
