Will of Henry Chamnis, 1717 - Prince George County, VA Will of Henry Chamnis - 1717 (Deeds, Etc. 1713-28, page 325, Prince George Co.VA.) In The Name of God, Amen. In the year of our Lord God, one thousand seven hundred and seventeen, I Henry Chamnis of the County of Prince George, Bristoll Parish, being sick and weak of Body, but of good and perfect memory, thanks be to God, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth that is to say First I bequeath my Soul and Spirit into the hands of almighty God, my Heavenly Father, by whom of his meer and only grace I trust to be saved & received into eternal rest, through the Death of our Saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ In whose precious blood, I set the whole and only hope of my Salvation. My Body In hope of a joyfull resurrection, I comitt to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named, and touching the Distribution of my mortal goods I dispose of the same as followeth, first I will that all my Debts and funerall charges be paid and allowed. Item. I give and bequeath to my son John Chamnis, and to his heirs for ever, this plantation whereon I now live, bounded by the swamp and the Miery branch, but my will and pleasure is that my wife shall have full power and priviledge to live on the said plantation during her widdowhood without Disturbance or molestation. Item. I likewise give to my son John a little black cow and her yearling heifer, & a black horse, and a sow and a parcell of shotes which were formerly called his, and a feather bed and the furniture thereunto belonging, and an iron pott, and my carpenters tools, and a sett of troopers arms, a painted stock gunn. Item. I give and bequeath to my loving wife a feather bed and all the furniture thereunto belonging, and an Iron pott, and a gray horse, a frying pann, a large Pewter Dish, and two Basons, two plates and six spoons, and two cows, and two sheep, and the priviledge of the killable hoggs, and one gang of sows & shotes, and a small Brass Kettle, and one Chest, and a Table and six Chairs. Item. I give to my son Henry Chamnis a feather bed and furniture thereto belonging, and I likewise give and bequeath to my son Henry, the remaining part of this tract of Land, from the Miery branch to the head of the line, to him and his heirs for ever, and a bay horse, a set of Coopers Tools, one young cow, a gunn, a sow and shoats which are called his. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Chamnis, and to his heirs for ever, my Land at the Three Creeks, lying in the Isle of Wight County,and two Cattle, and the Hoggs that are mine at the Three Creeks. Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Chamnis a bay mair one cow which was formerly called hers, one Ewe. Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary a young cow, and one breeding sow, and one Ewe. Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ann one young breeding cow, and a large Pewter Dish, and a young sow, six spoons, Item a mair Betty the first foal that she brings to my Daughter Ann. Item. I give to my son Nathaniel the old mair and all her increase that she brings hereafter, except the first foal that she brings, which is already given, and an Iron Pott, a young sow and piggs, and two Pewter Dishes. Item. I give and bequeath to my son Jacob a young colt,and a Iron Pott, two plates, and a bason, and a Candlestick, and a Chest. Item. My will and pleasure is that if my wife marry, and cannot rule the children that Wm.Robert Bolling shall have my son Henry, and be his Guardian, and my son William to Hugh Golightly, till they come to age, and their Estates with them. Further I desire that what things is found in the Estate already not given to be equally Divided between my two youngest sons. Item. My will and pleasure is that my son John Chamnis shall give and pay to each one of his brothers, a hundred plantable Apple Trees when they come to age. Item. I leave give and bequeath to my loving wife all personable Estate which I have not already given and bequeathed. Item. I make and ordain constitute and appoint my loving wife and Wm.Robert Bolling my Executor and Executrix of this my Will and Testament and I do utterly revoke all former Wills & Testaments heretofore made or Declared, and I desire that my Estate may not be brought to appraisment. The above written Last Will and Testament of Henry Chamnis Dec'd. was Exhibited into Court by Robert Bolling and Mary Chamnis his Executors who made oath thereto, and it being proved by the oaths of Thomas Addison and Hugh Golightly witnesses thereto, is by order of the Court truly Recorded and a Certificate is grantedthe s'd.
