Will of William Hatt, 1720 - Prince George Co. VA (Deeds etc. 1713-28, page 439, Prince George Co.VA.) In the name of God, Amen. I William Hatt being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect sence and memory, praise be given to almighty God for the same, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this Life on Earth, make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth, that is to say, First and particularly I give and bequeath my Soul to almighty God that gave it me, and my body to unto the Earth from whence it came, to be buried in such Christian Like manner as my executors hereafter mentioned shall think fitt to do, these are there fore to adnull,revoke,Frusterate and make void any other Will or Wills heretofore by me made, I do declare this my Last Will and Testament and as for my Worldly Estate that it has pleased God to bestow upon me, after my just debts are paid, I dispose of as followeth viz't.- Item. I give and bequeath to my Loveing wife Sarah Hatt all my Estate, both Lands, negro's and all my Estate both personall and real, both in Virginia and in Great Brittain, to her and her heirs for ever, and I do make, ordain, constitute and appoint my Loveing wife my whole and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament this 17th day of Aprill 1720.- W. Hatts Seald w'th. a wafer. Witnesses- Sampson Merredeth W. Haly Tho's. Rogers At a Court held at Merchants Hope for the County of Prince George on Wensday the Eleventh day of Jany. 1720. The above written Last Will and Testament of William Hatt dec'ed. was presented into Court by Nathaniel Harrison Esq. and Sarah Hatt the Ex'tx. named in the said Will, haveing Expressly refused to take on her the burthen and Execution of the said Will, the said Nathaniel Harrison made oath thereto, and it being proved by the oath of Thomas Rogers a witness thereto is by order of the Court truly recorded. And on the motion of the said Nathaniel Harrison, and his giveing Security according to Law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Commission of Administration with the said Will annexed, in due form.- Test Wm.
