Prince George Co., VA Miscellaneous Wills Will of David Hobbs (Will Book 1, page 34, Prince George Co.VA.) In the name of God Amen, I David Hobbs of the County of Prince George, and state of Virginia, being of sound and disposing mind do make this my last Will and Testament, as follows, hereby revoking all others. 1st, I give and bequeath unto my two nephews, Alonzo W.Hobbs and Leonidas J.Hobbs, all my lands south of the Otto Dam Swamp, I also give unto Alonzo W.Hobbs one feather bed and furniture, and eleven Windsor chairs, to him and his heirs forever. I also give unto Leonidas J.Hobbs one double barrell gun and one blue chest to him and his heirs forever. 2nd, I give and bequeath unto my nephew James W.Richardson, one feather bed and sted, to him and his heirs forever. 3rd, I give and bequeath unto David W.Hobbs (son of David M.Hobbs dec'd.), my woman Rebecca, and all lands north of said Otto Dam Swamp, to him and his heirs forever. I also give and bequeath unto the said David W.Hobbs, all bonds and money due me after paying all my just debts. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint William H.Boissean my executor of this my last Will and Testament, I require no security from my executor by the Court of Prince George. As witness my hand and seal this 7th day of April 1860. David Hobbs (Seal) Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of us, who, at the request of the Testator have subscribed our names as witnesses} Henry L.Mason W.D.Burrow In Prince George County Court December Term 1866. A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of David Hobbs deceased, was produced in Court and proved by the oath of Wm.D. Burrow a witness, who also testified that Henry L.Mason, the other witness (now dead) signed the said will as a witness in his presence, and in the presence of the Testator. Wm.H.Boissean the executor therein named, refused to take upon himself the burthen of the execution thereof, and also testified that the said Testator executed said writing in his presence, as and for his last Will and Testament and that said Henry L.Mason also subscribed the same as a witness in his presence. And thereupon said paper writing was admitted to record as the last Will and Testament of David Hobbs deceased. Teste Ro.Gilliam C.C. A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Joseph A.Brittle having been presented at November term last of this Court and proved to be wholly in the handwriting of the Testator, by the oath of Joseph W.Glover there being no subscribing witnesses thereto, was this day proved to have been wholly written by the Testator, by the oath of Susanna M.Glover and ordered to be recorded on motion of Sarah E. Brittle who made oath thereto and together with Joel F.Lilly and Wm.T. Lucador her securities, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of twelve hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs, Certificate is granted her for obtaining letters of administration with the will of the aforesaid Joseph A.Brittle dec'd. annexed in due form. Tatum of the County of Prince George State of Virginia being of sound mind and disposing memory, wishing to dispose of all my worldly goods, do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills heretofore made by me. I give to my wife Melissa A.B.Tatum my whole estate, real and personal, during her natural life, she, my said wife, to raise and educate my children and at her death I direct that the Same be equally divided among all my children. The portion of my estate to which my daughter Rebecca S.Blow will be entitled, I give to her during her natural life and at her death, I give the same to the heirs of her body.
