Will of William Savage, 1720 - Prince George Co. VA (Deeds etc. 1713-28, page 407, Prince George Co.VA.) In the Name of God, Amen, I William Savage of Martins Brandon Parrish in the County of Prince George, being sickly but of sound mind & memory do make & ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form following, first and principally I commend my Soul to Almighty God, stedfastly trusting to his Gracious acceptance through the merritts and media. of my redeemer and Saviour Jesus Christ, and for the small Worldly Estate, which God has been pleased to give me, I hereby give and dispose of as followeth, after my just Debts and Funerall disbursments are paid and Discharged. 1. I give to my son William Savage all that part of my Land that Lyes between the two runns, adjoining on Mr. Halls and Mr. Bairds Lands, to him & his heirs , as also a small chest, a pewter tankard, a young steer, and a Gunn and the Hoggs called his. 2. I give to my son John Savage my plantation whereon I now Live w'th all the remaining part of my Land, to him & his heirs. 3. I give to my Daughter Sarah, the Small Iron Pott, two pewter dishes & a cow. 4. I give to my Daughter Eliza. Savage, one cow and a young Steer. 5. I give to my son Francis the second best bed & furniture, the midling pott, two pewter dishes, a Gunn & a heifer, with the female increase, and my will is that my said son do remain and live with his Brother John till he be free and also if Either of my Eldest sons chance to dye without heirs, that then their shares or dividend of Land heretofore given shall be & remain to my youngest son Francis, and that if either of my said sons should be desirous of selling his said dividend, my will is that the other possess't should have the refusall. 6. My will is that my Estate shall not be appraised. 7. I do hereby give and bequeath all the remaining part of my Estate of what kind so ever not before hereby given to my said son John, and do hereby nominate and appoint him my said Son, to be my whole & sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revokeing all former & other Wills by me made or at any time declared, and this only to be deemed and taken for my Last Will and Testament, and no others. Hall At a Court held at Merchants Hope for the County of Prince George on the second Tuesday in June being the fourteenth day of the said month Anno Dom: 1720. The above written Last Will and Testament of William Savage dec'ed. was presented into Court by John Savage his Executor who made oath thereto and it being proved by the oaths of Rob't. Hall, Robert Jones, and Elizabeth Berryman witnesses thereto, is by order of the Court truly recorded, and on the motion of the said John Savage and his giveing Security according to Law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
