Will of Celia Temple, 1786 - Prince George Co. VA (Deeds etc. 1787-92, page 163, Prince George Co.VA.) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Sela Temple of the County of Prince George through the abundant mercy and goodness of God tho weak in Body yet of a sound & perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my Last Will & Testament and desire it to be received by all as such. Imprimis I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God my maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it through the all sufficient merits and meditation of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave himself to be an attonement for my sins and is able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make Intercession for them and who trust will not reject me a returning penitent Sinner when I come to him for mercy in this hope & confidence I render up my Soul with comfort humbly beeseeching the most blessed and glorious trinity one God most holy most merciful and gracious to prepare me for the time of my Dissolution and then to take me to himself into that rest and incomparable felicity which he has prepared for those that love and fear his holy name Amen, blessed be God. Imprimis I give my Body to the Earth from where it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from thence at the last Day as for my Burial I desire it may be decent without pomp or state at the discretion of my executors hereafter nam'd who I doubt not will manage it with all requesite prudence as to my Worldly Estate, I will and positively order that all my just Debts be paid and funeral charges. Item. I give to my dear and loving Brother John Temple the House wherein I now dwell with all the Lands & Tenaments lyabout it to him and his Heirs and assigns forever, also I give and bequeath to the said John Temple one cow and calf and seven pound cash & one pott & pan puter one spinning wheel and one trunk to him and his Heirs and assigns forever. Item. I do make ordain constitute and appoint Joel Rives whole & soul executor of this my last will and Testament disannuling all other Wills by me before made and do constitute this my last will & Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this tenth Day of July one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Six.
