Last Will & Testament of John Stone, 1765 Princess Anne County, Virginia

In the name of God Amen I John Stone being very sick & weak in Body but of perfect mind and
memory thanks be given unto God their fore all men … to die I do make and ordain this my Last
Will of Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Sole into
the hands of God that gave it and for my body I commend it to the Earth to be Buried in a
Christian like manner at the Discretion of my Executors nothing doubting with the … Resurrection
I shall receive the same again by mighty power of God and as … such worldly Estate wherewith it
hath pleased God to Bless me with in this Life, I give, devise & dispose of the same in the
following manner and form. 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Stone the Plantation where he lives on containing One
hundred & fifty acres of land to him and his Heirs forever. 

Item I leave unto my loving wife one Negro called …and child called … during her natural life and
after her death to my son Simon Stone to him & his heirs forever. 

Item I also leave to my loving wife Elizabeth Stone the use of two negros …during her natural
life and after to be equally divided among all my children.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Stone One hundred acres of land … to him & his heirs
forever. 

I also leave all the rest of my Estate with in and without to be equally divided among all my
Children. 

I also leave my son John Stone and John Whitehurst my whole and sole Executors of this my Last
Will and Testament where unto I have set my hand & seal this 18th Day of January 1765.
