Cemetery Location:  West of the Carolina Road, Route #625, 10.5 miles from
                    Haymarket, Virginia (center) on the north side, House .25 
                    mile from the road.
                    Prince William Co., Virginia

OWNERS:

The Burwell family, first owners.
The Briscoe family.
Jessie Ewell purchased in 1833, and it has remained in the Ewell family since 
that date. (1936)

DESCRIPTION:

(A description of the house and gardens has not been recanted in this space but 
can be located in the original document at the Library of Virginia.)


HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

The old graveyard which is west of the house is very large and beautifully situated, with a large orchard on one side, and shaded by splendid old trees.

The inscriptions on the tombstones are given below:

died July 15, 1835


Fannie B. Ewell
Born Dec. 4, 1810

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God

born August 6, 1806
died Feb. 23, 1846


Alberta
daughter of Alberta and Fenton Ewell
born July 10, 1852
died 1853
Like early dew she sparkled and was exhaled

wife of Fenton Ewell
born Dec. 12, 1825
died June 9th, 1855


Mildred Ewell
born June 3, 1819
died Feb. 11th, 1899
A gracious woman attaineth honor


Charlotte Marianne Ewell
died June 29, 1853
aged 17 years
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave


Helen Woods
beloved wife of John Ewell
born Sept. 2, 1829
died Sept. 19, 1854
Wo unto us not for she sleeps well
