Morton Cemetery Location: 5 miles west of Haymarket, Virginia, on Route #681, south side of road. Prince William Co., Virginia DATE: 1797. DESCRIPTION: (A description of the house and gardens has not been recanted in this space but can be located in the original document at the Library of Virginia.) HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There are two graveyards on the place, one of considerable size by the side of the mountain road, but no inscriptions. The following inscriptions are from the graves in the one that lies some distance from the house site, to the southwest, not very far from the Antioch Road: In memory of Peyton Norville who died at Brentsville, Virginia June 17th, 1849 in the 70th year of his age Sarah Norville died 1854 Made perfect through suffering Sacred to Benoni Harrison born in Prince Wm. County, Virginia January 17th, 1804 died August, 1888 (Masonic emblem) His earthly remains in here. Benoni Harrison born 1767 Sacred to the memory of Margaret Norville sister of Catherine Harrison She died on the 14th of February, 1864 in the 67th year of her age There are numerous other stones and some more inscriptions, but too defaced to made them out.
