Morton Cemetery Location: About 2 miles east of Route #1 and .5 mile north of road maintain by U.S. Government, some 300 years west of old Ennis Place. Prince William Co., Virginia DATE: About 1768. OWNERS: Samuel Luckett Daniel Payne DESCRIPTION: It is necessary to walk about a mile in the woods to reach this cemetery. In the surrounding woods are many large trees, many of which have fallen. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There are only two stones that have legible inscriptions: Martha Luckett departed this life September 27th, 1800 aged 45 years Why should we mourn departed friends Or shake at death’s alarms It is voice that Jesus sends To call them to His arms. John B. Luckett departed this life March 19th, 1794 aged 47 years Lamented parent, now adieu, No tears can bring you home Your loved who mourn for you Now sorrows o’er thy tomb.
