Morton Cemetery Location: 2 miles south of Nokesville, Virginia on Route #646, on the right side of the road. Prince William Co., Virginia DATE: (blank) OWNERS: Presbyterian Church organization of Prince William. DESCRIPTION: This old cemetery which covers considerable area, is so overgrown with vine and underbrush and surrounded by tall cedars that it is possible to pass right by it without realizing that it is there. By pushing through the underbrush about 50 feet to the left of the church ruins, the old stones can be seen often knee deep in honeysuckle and periwinkle. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following are the inscriptions that are legible, but there are many stones that the lettering is obliterated, or there never has been any inscription whatever, usually on what appear to be the oldest markers. Sarah L. daughter of J. and O. Warder and wife of Ira G. Underwood born Sept. 8th, 1840 died May 24th, 1881 In memory of Hattie B. Loder daughter of ___ and Mary E. died November 21st, 1870 aged 26 years Our mother Mary E. wife of David Burdge born Aug. 12th, 1802 died March 15th, 1884 Our father David Burdge born March 4th, 1802 died Sept. 2nd, 1894 Sacred to the memory of Elizabeth beloved wife of Wm. M. Stew 18__ - 1858 Mary Colvin wife of Charles Wesley Hazen Born Dec. 2, 1842 Cornellus D. Slack died March 1859 aged 66 years Born Sept. 14th, 1802 Died Feb. 2d, 1890 Sarah Slack Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of his Saints. Godfrey C. Cline departed this life February 22d, 1852 aged 52 yrs and 2 mo. Mrs. Mary A. Cline died November 20th, 1876 in the 73d year of her age Do you ask how she lived? She set Heaven before her- Do you ask how she died? In the faith of the blessed. E. F. Wolverton born October 6th, 1856 Died November 2d, 1859 M. E. Wolverton born June 4th, 1848 Died October 1854 Francis R. Osmun wife of Caleb H. Osmun Born January 21st, 1825 died June 2d, 1857 aged 32 years four months, five days. Fond memories abide as God Bereaves and teaches. Adelaide Smith daughter of S. W. and Mary C. Hazen born January 14th, 1871 died September 1904 There still be no night there. In Fond Remembrance of C. W. Hazen Born July 12th, 1828 died Sept. 1898 Under the shadow of thy wing, I take my rest. In memory of Eliza S. wife of Rev. L. H. Hazen died Sept. 5th, 1863 aged 67 years Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep, From which none ever wakes to weep. A calm and undisturbed repose, Unbroken by the last of foes. In memory of Rev. Levi H. Hazen Died Oct. 6th, 1862 aged 71 years Blessed are they who die in the Lord. In memory of Rebecca C. wife of A. H. Hazen Died May 24th, 1862 aged 36 years Gone Home. Mary A. Patten wife of Jacob A. Stoodds and daughter of John and Mary Baldwin Died 6th, ____ 1877 Grieve not for me my parents dear, I am not dead, but sleeping here. Clara W. Daughter of W. R. and L. V. Free died Feb. 7th, 1884 aged 14 years Budded in the earth to bloom in Heaven. In memory of Stephan E. Wilks born in Alabama, 1834 died in the Southern Army Aug. 24th, 1864 He was a consistant member of the Baptist Church for over ten years and died hopeful. Our Darlings Willie and Alice children of C. L. and Elizabeth Stewart Florence Jackson Ellicott born Feb. 5th, 1866 Died 1882 Edward Ellicott born Sept. 2d, 1831 Bessie Infant daughter of G.
