Prince William County John King a soldier wounded in the action of Col. Buford is permitted to pass with his father Samuel King to VA -issuing _____ are required to furnish them with rations, forage, --masters with forage for our horses and Continental Farry boats will pass them over ferries of their road to Virginia. I do certify that John King who has lost both his arms enlisted as a soldier for three years or for the war in the Third VA Regt. in the month of Sept. 1777. Cha. Jones, Com'dr. Copy Teste: Rueben Bunker This day Samuel King came before and made oath that he received his son John King on the 22nd day Aug. 1780. Town in NC. from Geo. Smallwood and Doct. Clements who informed Mr. Samuel King that his son had lost both his arms in the action of Buford's Defeat. I do with the advice of the Council, hereby certify that John King, late a soldier in the Thrid Virg. Regiment appears to have been disabled in such a manner by a wound which occasioned the loss of all the finger of his right hand while in the service of the United States as to entitle him to the sum of twelve pounds, which allowance is accordingly made him, commencing from the first day of January 1785.
