Will of Jeffrey Johnson II, Prince William Co., VA 1758 In the name of God Amen I Jeoffry Johnson of Hamilton Parish County of Prince William being sick and weak but of perfect sense and memory do make this my last will and testament. First I give my soul to God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, and as for such worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with (my debts and funeral expenses being first paid) I dispose of as followeth. Item: I give and bequeath to my dear wife Margaret Johnson during her natural life the use of all my land in Prince William County and all my other estate of whatever nature so ever excepting a young sorrell horse I give to my son Moses Johnson. Item: I give to my sons John, William and Benjamin Johnson and my daughters Mary Morgan and Margaret Johnson twenty five shillings sterling to be equally divided between them and my intent is that they have no other part of my estate. Item: I give to my Granddaughters Ann and Rose Johnson daughters of my daughter Margaret a sufficient maintenance in my estate untill they arrive at the age of eighteen years and I give to the said Ann and Rose Johnson four pounds currency each to be paid them at the day of marriage. Item: I give and bequeath to my sons Jeffery and Moses Johnson after their mother is deceased all my estate both real & personal & my desire is that my friends Samuel Earle, Elias Edmonds and John Bell may equally divide my land in this county in quantity and quality between my two sons Jeffrey and Moses Johnson which said land/according to the bounds established by my friends before mentioned. I give to my sons Jeffrey and Moses Johnson to them and their heirs for ever. Item: My desire is that my estate may not be appraised. Lastly I do revoke all former wills by me made and do acknowledge this to be my last will and testament and do appoint My two sons Jeffry and Moses Johnson whole and sole executors of this my last will and testeament whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this xxiiird day of February MDCCLVIII. his Jeffrey x Johnson Seal mark Signed sealed published and delivered by the before named Jeffry Johnson to be his last will and testament in presence of us. This will was presented in court by Jeffery Johnson and Moses Johnson executors herein named who made oath thereto according to law and being proved by the oaths of John Bell and Samuel Earle Give Gent two of the witnesses the same is admitted to record and the said Jeffery and Moses having performed what is ? on such cases. Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate there of in custom.
