The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Prince William County VA, Circuit Court Archives, pp 297-99 Whereas Moses Wickliff late of the County of Prince William and Commonwealth of Virginia was seized in fee simple of a Certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being on the South side of Bull Run in the county aforesaid containing two hundred and seventy acres more or less: and being so seized on or about the 15th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine departed this life intestate by means whereof the said tract or parcel of land descended and passed in parcemony (sic) to his next of kin to wit Arrington Wickliff, Robert Wickliff, Dorcas kincheloe wife of Cornelius Kincheloe, Mary Davis wife of Henry Davis, Hector Kincheloe, Jefre Kincheloe and the heirs of Aron (Aaron) Wickliff deceased and whereas no division having been made of this land among the several parcerners to whom it has descended and as it is the intention of Henry Davis and Mary his wife parties to these presents to sell and convey to Moses Wickliff all their ! ! right and title to their individual share in the land above mentioned to descend to them as aforesaid. Now this indenture made this 10th day of February in Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one Between the said Henry Davis and his Wife mary of the County of Nelson of the state of Kentucky of the one part and Moses Wickliff of Prince William COunty and State of Virginia of the other part. Witnessed that the said Henry Davis & Mary his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty Four pounds Current money of Kentucky to them on hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained sold a liened released and confirmed and by these presents do and each of them do give grant bargain and sell a lien release ? (illegible word) and confirms unto him the said Moses Wickliff his heirs and ofsigns forever all their the said Henry Davis and Mary his Wife (parties to these presents) und! ! evided (sic) share and in a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Prince William and State of Virginia and Bounded on the north by Bull Run, on the south by Buckhall and adjoining the lands of Bernard Hooe Junior, Thomas Bird and the heirs of John Kincheloe deceaded and the undivided share of them the said Henry Davis and Mary his Wife and each of them and their heirs and the remainder ? (illegible) Rents and profitd of the said tract or parcel of land and all the undivided Share right title and interest of them, their and each of them their heirs in the said tract of land and every part thereof. To have and to hold the said undivided share in the said tract or parcel of land, with the ? (illegible) unto him the said Moses Wickliffe his heirs ? ofsigns forever to the only proper use benefit and behalf of him the said Henry Davis & Mary his Wife do for themselves and their heirs Covenant and Grant to and with the said Moses Wickliff his heirs and ofsi! ! gns that they the said Henry Davis and Mary his Wife and their heirs and eachof them the land and premiseshereby mentioned and intended to be bargained and sold and every part thereof unto him the said Moses Wickliff his heirs and ?, ? and ofsigns against them the said Henry Davis and Mary his Wife and their heirs and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have herein to set their hands and seals the date above written. Signed, Sealed and delivered Henry Davis (seal) In the presence of Mary Davis (X) (seal) Travis Davis Samuel Brown Bryan Young Nelson County ?(illegible) Personally appeard (sic) before us Travis Davis & Samuel Brown two of the Justices of the piece (sic) in and for the County of the aforesaid Henry Davis and Mary his wife a party to the within indenture and acknowledges the same to be their gift of deed and she the said Mary being examined by us apart & out of the hearing of her said husband Voluntarily relinquishes her right of Dower in the land mentioned in the said indenture and that she did the same without the persuasion or threats of her husband or through fear of his displeasure.
