Biography of James L. Albert - Pulaski Co. VA Source: The Index to Pulaski County History in Hardesty's 1884 JAMES L. ALBERT--was born Christmas Day, 1842, in Giles county, Virginia, son of James and Elizabeth ALBERT. His grandfather was a soldier of the 1812 war, drew a pension for his services therein, and died in 1876, at the ripe old age of seventy-eight, retaining unimpaired his metal faculties to the close of his long and eventful life. Five of his grandsons inherited his love of independence and fought for the liberty of Virginia through the civil War. The subject of this sketch was a member of Company F Twenty-Fourth Virginia Infantry, taking part in all it's battles until Seven Pines, where he lost an arm, incapacitating him for further active duty. His brothers, Jacob A. and G. A. were in the same regiment, serving from the commencement to the close of the struggle. Jacob was wounded at the battle of Gettysburg. H. M. and William E., brothers of James L., were members of Company G, Twenty-Second Virginia Infantry, through the war. William E. was wounded and made prisoner, and sent to Point Lookout, where he received such treatment as resulted in his death shortly after he reached his home again. The first marriage of Mr. ALBERT took place in Scott county, Kentucky, November 7, 1872, when he united in wedlock with Sua A. WOLLEN, who was born in that state and county, March 10, 1845, and died September 1, 1873. They had one daughter Susie A., born August 20, 1873. Triston and Malinda WOOLEN, parents of Mrs. ALBERT, died in Scott county, Kentucky. In 1879, James L. ALBERT located in Pulaski county, engaging in farming. December 13, 1883, he married Clementine SNIDER, whose parents, Samuel and Margaret, live in Montgomery county, Virginia. His postoffice address is Bell Spring, Pulaski county, Virginia.
