Biography of William Anderson - Pulaski Co. VA Source: The Index to Pulaski County History in Hardesty's 1884 WILLIAM ANDERSON--was a son of Jacob and Christena ANDERSON, who made their home in Pulaski county about 1782. His father was a soldier of the war for Independence, and until his death a pensioner for services in the Continental army. At the birth of William ANDERSON, which occurred June 22, 1805, Pulaski county was on the then western frontier of Virginia, and its history through the eighty years of his life has been a memorable one, a history of development for three-fourths of a century, of desulation through the years of the civil war, and of quick recovery through peace and prosperity. The first wife of William ANDERSON was Hettie CARPER, and their children were twelve: Jacob, born November 7, 1829; John Newton, August 5, 1831: Emeline Miller, March 20, 1833; Margaret Elizabeth, October 30, 1834; Nancy Havens, November 19, 1836; Arminta Catherine, August 25, 1838; William Jasper, January 15, 1840; Eve Christena, October 30, 1841; Susan Louisa, November 20, 1844; James Kelley, December 27, 1846; William Jackson, May 5, 1849; George Pares, February 5, 1851--all these children are living in Dublin district, Pulaski county. Jacob was a lieutenant of Company F, Fifty-Fourth Virginia Infantry, and went through the war unharmed. In Giles county, Virginia, October 12, 1869, William ANDERSON married Julia P., daughter of William BROOKS. She was born in Franklin county, Virginia, on the 25th of January, 1814. Between the years of 1830 and 1840, Mr. ANDERSON held the rank of captain in the State militia.
