Biography of William Franklin Howard - Pulaski Co. VA WILLIAM FRANKLIN HOWARD - son of James Davis HOWARD and Elmira Jane (ALLISON) HOWARD, was born in Pulaski county, July 3, 1851. In this county, on the 3rd of January, 1877, he married Elizabeth Miller DARST, who was born in Pulaski county October 27, 1851. Their home is brightened with the presence of three children, born: Ida, October 30, 1877; Edwin Trolinger, December 29, 1879; James Thomas, March 20, 1882. James ALLISON, grandfather of W. F. Howard, was soldier of the 1812 war, and one of the first settlers of Pulaski county. Thomas W. DARST, father of Mrs. HOWARD, was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, and came to Pulaski county in 1836, settling on Back creek. He married Margaret J., daughter of William MILLER. Her father, born in 1793, has always lived and is still living in the home in which he was born; her father's father was one of the settlers here under the old Patton grant. Farming and grazing is the occupation of William F. HOWARD, and he receives his mail at Dublin, Pulaski county, Virginia.
