Biography of J. C. Hurst - Pulaski Co. VA J.C. HURST-son of Allen and Nancy (COOK) HURST, was born September 12, 1864, in Pulaski county. His parents were born in this county, his father in 1828 and his mother in 1832, and his father was one of the defenders of Virginia in the war of the States. Allen HURST enlisted in Company B, Forty-Fifth Virginia Infantry, at Camp Construction, below Dublin, and served through the war until the army disbanded. He was never wounded. but wss once made prisoner. The brothers and sisters of J.C. HURST are : Mary J., born August 4, 1852 ; Matilda, October 23, 1853. ; R. V., September 19, 1855 -, Charity, November 11, 1857, deceased : A.P., January 31, 1860 ; Nancy E., April 21, 1862 ; S.N., February 16, 1867; Gracie T., April 24, 1868; Ida L., June 1, 1871 ; B.C., May 21. 1875 ; W.W.W., September 4, 1876. J.C. HURST is one of the rising generation in whom the future of Pulaski county and of Virginia rests. He has engaged in the study of medicine, and is prosecuting his studies at Radford Furnace, Pulaski county, Virginia.
