Biography of William T. Jordan - Pulaski Co. VA WILLIAM T. JORDAN-is a son of John and Hannah (HOGE) JORDAN. His mother was born in this county, and his father came from Botetourt county, Virginia to Pulaski county in 1822. He was born in this county September 7, 1834 and has always lived here, with the exception of the time he was in active service during the 1861 war, as a member of Company F, Fifty-fourth Virginia Infantry, and after his discharge he furnished a substitute. He now owns and cultivates 338 acres of the old FLOYD estate, and he also owns and operates a large farm of 1,200 acres where he makes his homestead, all in Dublin district. He is largely interested in grazing, and has some of the finest cattle raised in Virginia. In Wythe county, Virginia, December 9, 1862, he married Lettie SIMMERMAN, who was born in Wythe county, October 16, 1843, a daughter of John P.M. and Mary Ann SIMMERMAN. Of their marriage five children were born: Mollie H., May 6, 1865; Laura J., February 4, 1867; Nannie L. August 10, 1869, died January 12, 1883, at the Weasleyan Female Institute, Staunton, Virginia; Willie T., August 12 1879; Maggie Mc., December 22, 1880. Thomas JORDAN, grandfather of William T., was an English soldier of the 1776 war, was made prisoner by the Americans, and voluntarily remained behind when he was exchanged, settling in Botetourt county, where he married and lived until his decease in 1825. His son John came to what is now Pulaski county about 1821, and settled on the farm now owned by William T. Dublin, Pulaski county, Virginia, is the post office address of William T. JORDAN.
