Biography of Henry Kanode - Pulaski Co. VA HENRY KANODE-born in Giles county, Virginia, August 21, 1824 was a son of George and Barbara A. (DOLLMAN) KANODE. His father settled at an early date in Montgomery county, one among its agricultural population, and there cleared a large farm, and raised a family of five sons and one daughter. Five of these children are still living. In Giles county, March 5, 1846, Henry KANODE married Elizabeth, daughter of William and Margaret (KIRK) VAUGHT, born in Giles county in 1821. Of their union were born seven children: Sarah C., February 9, 1847; Margaret A., February 17, 1849; David H. (deceased); James C., November 8, 1853; John H., October 20, 1856; Mary E., March 6, 1859; and Luvenia J., March 1, 1863. Henry KANODE served the government of the Confederate States in the manufacture of powder, during the years of the civil war. He had one brother who went into active service, enlisting in Montgomery county in 1861, and serving as a member of the Fifty-fourth Virginia Infantry until killed in battle. In 1866 Henry KANODE became one of the farming residents of Pulaski county, where he is now comfortably established. Dublin, Pulaski county, Virginia, is his postoffice address.
