Biography of William R. Morris - Pulaski Co. VA WILLIAM R. MORRIS-son of John and Melinda (HARRELL) MORRIS, and Sarah C. PARSON, daughter of Jesse and Melvina (CARICO) PARSON, were united in marriage in Wythe county, Virginia, in 1862. Both were natives of that county, his birth occurring April 6, 1837, and hers in 1848. Their children were born: Nannie S., 1866; Ellen E.,1868; Charles J., 1870; William J., 1872; Mary M.., 1874; Berton P., 1876; Alice S., 1878; Harry E., 1880. The parents of both Mr. and Mrs. MORRIS were natives of Pulaski county, and in 1880 Mr. MORRIS came with his family to make his home in this county. He is farming and raising stock in Newbern district. When war between the States was in progress he enlisted, in Wythe county, in Company B. Fifty-First Virginia Infantry, and he served through General FLOYD'S campaign in Northwestern Virginia, which lasted nearly a year, afterwards under Generals JONES, BRECKENRIDGE and EARLY, was captured at Waynesboro, March 2, 1865, sent to Fort Delaware, and released June 21 of the same year.
