Biography of B. F. Morehead - Pulaski Co. VA B.F. MOREHEAD--was a son of Andrew MOREHEAD, who was born in Pulaski county in 1795, passed here fifty years and more an honorable, busy life, and died April 8, 1857. Andrew MOREHEAD married Martha CADDALL, who died in 1842, and their son B.F. was born in this county, July 28, 1837. His marriage was solemnized in Campbell county, Virginia, December 10, 1857, and his wife is Martha E., daughter of George and Sarah E.(WATTS) VERMILLION. She was born in Campbell county, October 19, 1839. They have two daughters: Theodocia E., born January 8, 1859, and Jennie K., born January 4, 1864. Theodocia E. became the wife of A.F. BARKER, a druggist of Newbern, April 4, 1883. B.F. MOREHEAD enlisted in 1861, Company F, Fifty-Fourth Virginia Infantry, going to Kentucky, where his regiment opposed General GARFIELD in a skirmish at Middle Creek. Then they marched into Tennessee, then to Georgia, then to take part in the battle of Chickamauga, September 19-20, 1863. Then to Missionary ridge, from Dalton to Atlanta, from Atlanta to Jonesboro, from which point Mr. MOREHEAD came home on sixty days sick leave. When able he joined a portion of his regiment under Colonel TRIGG, operating along the line of the Virginia and Tennessee railroad, and he was appointed brigade commissary in the winter of 1864. The regiment marched from Abbingdon to Wytheville, then to Dublin, and then into Montgomery county, where the brigade of which they were a part disbanded. The struggle was over, those who had not given life had given everything else, and came home to begin the world anew. Mr. MOREHEAD then returned to farming and grazing his farm near Thorn Spring, where he continues. His address is Dublin, Pulaski county, Virginia.
