Biography of Samuel C. Morehead - Pulaski Co. VA SAMUEL C. MOREHEAD--born in Pulaski county, October 24, 1824, was in this county united in marriage with Frances A. HUDSON on the 6th of December, 1846. His wife was a native of Augusta county, Virginia, born June 27, 1819, and she came to this county the next year after her marriage. Her parents, George and Jane HUDSON, came to this county from Augusta county in 1849. Three daughters and one son are the children of Mr. And Mrs. MOREHEAD, born: Martha J., February 16, 1848; George A., May 12, 1850; Eliza R., October 11, 1852; Mary A., July 24, 1855--all are living in Dublin district. Andrew and Martha (CADDALL) MOREHEAD were the parents of Samuel C., and they came to this county from Shenandoah county. Andrew MOREHEAD, grandfather of Samuel c., was a soldier in the closing years of the Revolutionary war. Samuel C. MOREHEAD was among the many liberty-loving sons of Pulaski county who served in the Fifty-Fourth Virginia Infantry, Company F during the war between the States. He fought at the battle of Cloyd Mountain, before his enlistment, and then with that regiment until it disbanded at the close of the war. He is farming and stock raising in Dublin district, and is interested in all that promotes the welfare of his native county. For thirty-eight years he has been a consistent and faithful member of the Methodist Church, identified with all the interests of the church.
