Biography of Eli Peterson - Pulaski Co. VA ELI PETERSON-became on of the residents of Pulaski county in the year 1877, and has one of the largest estates in the county, containing about 600 acres of well improved land. He was born in Montgomery county January 29, 1823, son of Eli and Nancy (KERTNER) PETERSON, and he married in Montgomery county September 27, 1854. His wife is Jane, a daughter of Daniel and Susan (LUCAS) PETERMAN, and she was born in Montgomery county March 28, 1830. Their children were born: D.R., July 10, 1855; N. S., March 18, 1858; C.W., November 20, 1860; J.D., November 4, 1863. Mr. PETERSON served in the Army of Virginia a few weeks in the closing campaign of the war between the States. He had one brother, who held a captain's commission in the late war, and was wounded in the service. Their father was a soldier in the 1812 war, under Captain Pepper, of Montgomery county. Eli PETERSON, has served in Montgomery as overseer of the poor. He also served in the same county as captain of the militia for about eighteen years.
