Biography of William H. Smith - Pulaski Co. VA


WILLIAM H. SMITH--son of J. F. and S. (CARICO) SMITH, was born in Wythe county, 
but was raised and married on the farm where he now lives in Hiawassie district, 
Pulaski, county. His wife is Lucy J., daughter of James and Sophia ( MORE) 
CAFEE, and she was born on the farm that is s now their home. Her father entered 
the Fiftieth Virginian Infantry, and served in the Virginia campaign under 
Jackson until he was made prisoner. He was then sent to the Federal prison at 
Elmira, New York, and died while in confinement. William H. SMITH and Lucy J. 
CAFEE were married in 1881, and Lull Belle, their only child, was born in 1882. 
Mr. SMITH has his postoffice address at Allisonia, Pulaski, County, Virginia.
