Complaint Against Legrand, 1865 - Pulaski Co. VA THE CONFEDERATE STATES, To 1865 Virginia, Pulaski County to wit: To all or any one of the Constables of said County: Whereas William F. Eaton of said County has this day made complaint and information on oath before me, P. L. Woolwine, a Justice of said County that James H. Legrand, on the 1st day of May, 1865, in said County one gelding of the price of one hundred dollars of the goods and chattels of one Washington Toney, feloniously did steal, take and carry away--these are therefore in the name of the Commonwealth to command you forthwith to apprehend and bring before me or some other Justice of said County the body of the said James H. Legrand to answer the said complaint and be further dealt with according to law. Given under my hand this 1st day of June, 1865. P. L. Woolwine, J. P. (signed) (seal) Page 2 Pulaski County to wit: William F. Eaton upon oath complains that on the 1st day of May, 1865, in the County of Pulaski, James H. Legrand did feloniously steal, take and carry away one horse, the property of Washington Toney and of the value of one hundred dollars and he, the said William F. Eaton, therefore prays that the said James H. Legrand may be apprehended and held to answer said complaint--and dealt with in relation thereto as the law may require.
