Summons for Willis, Slave, 1844 - Pulaski Co. VA The Commonwealth of Virginia, John Casper deputized for that purpose to execute: We command you to summon Thomas McDaniel, Anthony McDaniel, Francis Saunders, Barney Teall to appear before the Justices of Pulaski County at the Court-House on tomorrow at 10 o'clock to testify and the truth to speak, in behalf of Willis (a slave), in a certain matter of controversy depending before the said Justices between the Commonwealth and said Willis on a charge of felony-- Defendant; and this they shall in no wise omit, under the penalty of $16.
