Floyd Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these Presents shall come--Greeting: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the Sixth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty eight, by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant, Nos. 16,303 & 16, 905, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Thomas J. Barnes, a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing thirty five acres & two rods. lying and being in the County of Pulaski near the head of Raccoon branch waters of New river, & bounded as follows. Beginning at two hickories corner to his own land, also to a Survey known as the Orebank Survey & with a line of his own land S. 37. W. 64 poles to two white oaks & a gum near a corner to John T. Sayer's land & with a line of the same N.87.W.90 poles to 2 pines: Thence N.31.E.26 poles to a black oak in a hollow: Thence N.58.E.34 poles to a pine on a ridge in a line of the Orebank survey & with the same S.53.E.74 poles to a black oak and two white oaks. Thence N.58.E.50 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Thomas J. Barnes and his heirs forever. In Witness Whereof, the said John B. Floyd Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the thirtieth day of November is the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine and of the Commonwealth the Seventy fourth.
