Will of David M. Cloyd, 1861 I, David M. CLOYD of Pulaski County Virginia do make this my last will and testament. TOWIT: Item: It is my wish that my body will be buried at Dunkard Bottom on the hill north east of my late residence and near the graves of my two still born infants. Item: It is my wish that my executors hereinafter named will appropriate an amount of money out of my estate sufficient to build a good stone wall around my grave and that of my still born infants. I wish the grave yard to be fifty feet square. Item: I will to the State of Virginia the graveyard above mentioned. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughters Lucy Thomas CLOYD, Kate CLOYD and Mary David CLOYD and their heirs all of my lands in the county of Pulaski and State of Virginia amounting in the whole on both sides of New River, to about seven thousand two hundred acres be the same more or less. With all the appartences belonging thereto. Also my interest in three tracts of land in Mercer County State of Virginia. VIZ: two tracts of land on Island Creek and one tract near the mouth of Bluestone river amounting in the whole to about eight hundred acres, be the same more or less. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughters Lucy Thomas CLOYD, Kate CLOYD and Mary David CLOYD all of my slaves, to be equally divided between them by my executors as soon after my decease as may be convenient Item: I give and bequeath to my daughters Lucy Thomas CLOYD, Kate CLOYD and Mary David CLOYD all of my personal estate to wit: money, bonds, cattle, horses, hogs, sheep and farming utensils, grain, etc. Item: It is my wish that all of the property that can be spared from the plantation, that is cattle, hogs, grain, horses, be sold at public sale as soon as it can be duly advertized, the proceeds to go to the payment of the debts of my estate. Item: I hereby appoint James M. CLOYD, Randal McGAVOCK and Joseph CLOYD as my executors with full power and authority to act as such. Given under my hand and seal this 9th day of August 1861 David M.
