Will of Sarah Davis, 1854 Pulaski County, Virginia Will Book 1 Pg 359-360 1st May 1854 I Sarah Davis of Reed Island in the County of Pulaski State of Virginia doth hereby make constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills heretofore made by me. 1st I give to my Sons Joseph and William Davis jointly a debt due by note on Samuel T. Calfee for Five hundred dollars (with a request that he have a reasonable time to pay the same) also a debt for Costs, etc. (paid by me) against Samuel Calfee Sr. Also my claim in a tract of land known as the White Plan [?] also my interest in a Sum of money which due in england [?] to the heirs of my Mother Joanah Stephens Dec’d. with a request if the same shall be collected that they make a generous division of the Same with brother Hugh Davis Joanah Sloan an the heirs of their brother James Davis, Dec’d. also all of my household & kitchen furniture not herein after disposed of. 2nd I give my son Joseph Davis for the benefit of his daughter Sarah J. E. my sorrel mare (Bel) also for the benefit of his son William H. my sorrel horse (Dick) also for the benefit of his children Rhoda and Sarah J. my two year old filly, also for the benefit of his daughter Sarah J. E. my large table. 3rd I give to my son William Davis my sorrel mare (Kit) also my new safe and all of the contents thereof also two beds & sufficient bed clothes to make the same comfortable also what shall be coming to me from the Estates of my deceased brothers Peter & James Stephens on account of the Bearon bottom lands also a small table and bedstead that belonged to my Mother also a three year old heifer-mare at my son Joseph Davis. 4th I give to my son Hugh Davis for the benefit of his son James his choice of the Colts that my mares may have this year. 5th I give to my grandson William Albert Davis one bed and bed cloathes, sufficient to make the same comfortable. 6th I farther give my son Joseph Davis for the benefit of his before named children Rhoda and James S. two Cows now in his pofsefsion 7 I farther direct that (in consideration of the above bequests made to my son Joseph Davis) that he pay all my just debts. Lastly I hereby appoint my two sons Joseph Davis and William Davis Executors of this my last Will and Testament. The Last Will and Testament of Sarah Davis Dec.d was presented in Court partly proved by the oath of James Vaughn, one of the subscribing witnefses thereto continued for further proof And at a Court held for said County the 8th day of March 1853 The Last Will and Testament of Sarah Davis was again presented in Court, further proven by John Calfee a subscribing witnefs thereto, and ordered to be recorded.
