                    Rappahannock Co., Virginia

DESCRIPTION:

This old graveyard lies on a hill behind the old  Amiss home, “Melville”.  
Alsop’s are also buried here.  It is said that they were kin to the Amisses.  
This graveyard has not been taken care of lately and is grown over with 
rosebushes and poison oak.  It is not enclosed by any kind of fence.  
Inscriptions copied from markers on graves are as follows:

Born July 6th, 1857
Died Nov. 6, 1860
Suffer little children to come unto me
for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.
