OWNERS: Mrs. Armistead Scott, Viewtown, Virginia. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This old graveyard lies on a hill behind the old Amiss home, “Melville”. Alsop’s are also buried here. It is said that they were kin to the Amisses. This graveyard has not been taken care of lately and is grown over with rosebushes and poison oak. It is not enclosed by any kind of fence. Inscriptions copied from markers on graves are as follows: Lulie Daughter of Dr. W.H. & S.W. Amiss Born July 6th, 1857 Died Nov. 6, 1860 Suffer little children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven. In Memory of Elijah Amiss born May 31 1792 Died Jany 2nd, 1852 In Memory of Ann E. Amiss Born May 8th 1806 Died July 18th, 1852 Elijah L. Son of Dr. W. S. & L. H. Alsop Born Sept’r 9th, 1847 Died June 20th, 1860 In Memory of Eliza Byrd Alsop born July 2nd, 1853 Died Aug. 30th, 1857 HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: None.
