RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Browning Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Browning graveyard: 1936 Sep. 15 Research made by Helen Gore Cemetery Location: Near Five Forks, Virginia, on Route #621 Rappahannock Co., Virginia DATE: 1857. OWNERS: Miss Ethel Long, Woodville, Virginia DESCRIPTION: This graveyard is located about one-fourth mile back of the home on top of a hill. It is enclosed by a stone wall and over-run with bushes, etc. The oldest marked stone is 1857, but there are quite a few graves with no tombstones, just rock markers, and these are probably much older. The following inscription was copied from a marker: Jane F. Browning Wife of James A. Browning Born July 3, 1825 Died Jan. 9, 1857 Age 31 yrs., 6 mos. & 6 days The Lord gave and thee Lord taketh away; Blessed Be thee name of thee Lord. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: None.
