Atkins Cemetery Location: On the Downing farm, Black Rock, Virginia, at the foot of the mountain between Warren and Rappahannock Counties and three miles off Route #211. Rappahannock Co., Virginia DATE: 1851. OWNERS: Downing. DESCRIPTION: Situated to the right of the home and enclosed by a wire fence. It is not well cared for and has grown up with bushes and is also very rough. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions were copied from the stones: Wife of John H. Downing Born May 3, 1816 Married June 1, 1852 Died July 20, 1865 In Memory of Ann Hundly Born Aug. 10, 1810 Married John H. Downing Dec. 19, 1835 Died Oct. 21, 1851 Bettie F. Daughter of John H. & Ann G.
