Rappahannock Co., Virginia DATE: 1857. OWNERS: Wade Bailey, RFD, Sperryville, Virginia. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This graveyard has been allowed to grow up. The markers are mountain rocks carved by hand with a chisel. Only the initials and date of death are on most of them. Mr. James A. Atkins, an old man who lives in Swindler Hollow, states that his grandparents (Embrey’s) are buried here. He did not remember his grandmother’s given name, but his grandfather was Charles Embrey. The following inscriptions were copied from markers: C. E. Born Sept. 18, 1775 Died Sept. 22, 1857 M. E. Died Apr. 3, 1860 W. E. Wife of C. E. Died Jan. 24, 1861 In the 87 yr. of her age.
