Northen, Constable June 7, 1813 Know all men by these presents that we Edward J. Northen, Martin Sisson, Robert Clarke and Edmund Northen are held and firmly bound unto James Barber, Esq, Governor of Virginia and his successors in the just and full sum of one thousand dollars the which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 7th day of June 1813. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Edward J. Northen is appointed Constable for the term of two years from the date hereof, within the District as lad of by the County Court of Richmond, to wit, "the District composed of the Parish of North Farnham" now if the said Edward J. Northen shall well and truly discharge the duties of the said office of Constable within the District aforesaid in the said County according to law, then the above obligation to be void therein to remain in the full force and virtue.
