Robert F. Northen and Henrietta H. Northen
Deed - October 9, 1847

This indenture made the 9th day of October in the year 1847 between Robert F. Northen and 
Henrietta his wife on the one part and Margaret J. Bryant on the other part all of the county of 
Richmond.  Witnesseth that he said R. F. Northen and Henrietta, his wife, in consideration of 
forty-five dollars of lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Margaret J. Bryant 
on or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said 
Margaret J. Bryant her heirs and assigns, a certain piece or parcel of land lying in the parish of 
Farnham, bounded as follows:  beginning at the upper corner of the land of James S. Packett on 
the main road leading from Durrettsville to Totuskey Bridge and thence up said road a sufficient 
distance to make an angle so as to form as compacted a piece of land to contain eight acres.  To 
be bounded on the east by the land of said Packett as the said M. J. Bryant and Elijah S. Williams 
may agree upon or as the County Surveyor may determine by actual survey.  The said eight acres 
are specified and reserved in a deed from said Northen and wife to said Williams bearing date 8th 
day of September 1847, together with all the appurtenances whatsoever to the said land belonging 
or appertaining , and the revisions, rents and profits thereof, to have and to hold the said eight 
acres of land with the tenements, hereditaments and all and singular the premises herein before 
mentioned and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Margaret J. Bryant, her heirs and 
assigns forever.

And the said R. F. Northen and Henrietta, his wife, for themselves and their heirs the said eight 
acres of land with all and singular the premises and appurtenances before mentioned unto the said 
Margaret J. Bryant, her heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of them, the said R. F. 
Northen and Henrietta, his wife, their or either of their heirs and of all and every person and 
persons whatsoever shall, will and do warrant and forever defend by these presents.

In witness the said Robert F. Northen and Henrietta, his wife, have hereunto set their hands and 
affixed their seals the day and year first herein written.
