The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ Deed Jery Alderson to Peter Northen July 3, 1797 This indenture made the third day of July one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven between Jery Alderson and Caty his wife of the County of Richmond and Parish of Lunenburgh of the one part and Peter Northen of the same County and Parish aforesaid. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of thirteen pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand to be paid by the said Peter Northen the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and thereof by these presents doth acquit and discharge, the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife hath given, granted, bargained and sold and confirmed and doth by these presents fully and clearly and absolutely give, grant, bargain and sell into the said Peter Northen a piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the said county and parish aforesaid containing thirteen acres of land be the same more or less and bound as follows, viz: Beginning at a stake in a branch corner with the land of Richard Shackleford deceased and near a red oak marked as a corner thence a crooked line of marked trees N5E120 poles to a stake corner to Isaac William Giberne thence a line of marked trees S16-1/2E36-1/2 poles to a stake in a branch corner with the said Shackleford, thence up the meanders of the said branch to the beginning. To have and to hold the said quantity of thirteen acres of land more or less and all and singular other the premises hereby granted, bargained and sold or mentioned or intended to be hereby bargained and sold with there and every their rights, members and appurtenances whatsoever unto the said Peter Northen, his heirs or assigns and to the only proper use and behoof of the said Peter Northen, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife for themselves the said parcel of land and singular the premises before granted, bargained and sold with the appurtenances unto the said Peter Northen, his heirs and assigns forever against them the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife and all other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend forever by these presents and further the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife themselves doth covenant, promise and agree with the said Peter Northen, his heirs and assigns that we the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife themselves and all and every other person or persons and their heirs lawfully claiming or having claim to any estate., right, title or interest or demand into or out the premises or any part thereof by, from or under them the said Jery Alderson and Caty his wife, their heirs shall and will at all times hereafter at or upon the reasonable request of him the said Peter Northen, his heirs or assigns make, do and execute all such further lawful and reasonable act or acts, thing or things, device or devices, assurance and conveyances in the law whatsoever. This Deed of Bargain and Sale from Jery Alderson and Caty his wife of the one part to Peter Northen of the other part with the receipt thereon endorsed was proved in open court by the oaths of John Donoway, Joseph Redman, and William Northen the witnesses thereto and admitted to record previous to which the said Caty Alderson being privately examined freely relinquished her right of dower in the premises hereby conveyed.
