I, Betsy Alderson of Richmond County, North Farnham Parish, being of perfect mind and memory, calling to mind the uncertainty if this life and knowing its appointed for all to die, do make this my last Will and Testament. First and principally I recommend my soul to the almighty God who gave it and my body the Earth from whence it was taken to be buried after a Christian like manner and for worldly goods it hath pleased God to help me with, I give and dispose of in manner and form as follows: First, I give all my land in Richmond County to be equally divided between my four brothers, James, John, William and Jerry Alderson and my two sisters, Jane Northen and Saryan Baker. I also give all my Negroes and their increase to be equally divided as aforesaid, that is to say between my four brothers and two sisters (brothers James, John, William and Jerry Alderson and to my two sisters Jane Northen and Saryan Baker and their heirs forever. It is also my will and desire that my brother Jerry shall have and leep all money or moneys due me from him my said brother (Jerry). The balance of my estate, I give to be equally divided as aforesaid between my four brother and two sisters. I appointe my brother James Alderson and my brother William Alderson and fried John M. Yerby as my Executors to this my Last Will And Testament, as witness my hand and sealed this 24th day September in the year of our Lord 1810. And lastly, it is my desire that this present codicil be annexed to and made a part of my Will and Testament to all intence and purposes, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day September 1810. Betsy x Alderson {her mark} Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Betsy Alderson as a codicil to be annexed to her last Will and Testament in the presence of : John Hadden Winny Hadden {her mark} William Baker At a Court held for Richmond County the 7th day of January 1811, this last Will and Testament of Betsy Alderson, deceased, together ith the codicil thereto annexed were proved in open court by the oaths of Winney Hadden and William Baker, two of the witnesses hereto and admitted to records and on the motion of James Alderson and William Alderson, two of the executors therein named, who took the oath and entered into bond with security according to law, a certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
