Will of George Alderson, 1714 - Richmond Co., VA In the name of God Amen. The tenth day of November Annogh Dmi 1714 I George Alderson of the parish of Washington & County of Westmoreland Tayler being weak of body but of sound & perfect praised be to God for the same and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order doe make this my last will and testament revoking & making null & void all former wills or testaments and declare this for my last will and testament and no other first I comend my soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it me and my body to the earth & to be buryed in decent manner at the discretion of my extrs hereafter named and as for such worldly estate & goods which the Lord in mercy hath lent me for a time I give & bequeath the same in manner form following. Item my will & mind is that all my just & due debts which of right I owe unto any one together with my funeral expences shall be first paid & discharged out of my personal estate. Item I give and bequeath Unto my daughter Jane Alderson all my lands & to her lawfull heirs forever and If it so happen that she die leaving no lawfull issue behind her than I give & bequeath the said lands unto my daughter Mary Alderson and to her and to her lawfull heirs for ever and if she happen to die leaving no lawfull issue then to my daughter Margret Alderson and to her heirs & assignes forever. Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Jane one trunck studded with the year of our Lord 1707 one hors call Ball one side saddle & a gold ring that was her mothers and as to the rest residue & remainder of all my estate and goods whatsoever I give & bequeath the same to be equally divided among my 3 daughters or to the survivors of them or otherwise to the last survivor to be kept & disposed of together with my servant James Coffey according to the descretion of my extr hereafter named. Item my will & mind is that all my children shall live remaine & be at the tition of my mother Mary Baxter till they severally attaine to the age of sixteen years and no longer but at their own pleasure. Item my will & mind is and I do hereby nominate constitute & appoint my loving mother Mary Baxter & my daughter Jane Alderson my true & lawfull extr to be this my last will & testament performed in witness whereof I the said George Alderson have hereunto set my hand and seale the day & year first before written - Sealed Signed & published in the George Alderson Presence of us David Wilson Sarah Morgan, Thomas Woodier Westmoreland at a court held for the said county the 24th day of November 1714.
