VA Richmond Co, VA Will Book 4, p538 In the Name of God amen This twenty Ninth day of Nov’r one thousand seven hundred and Forty Seven I James Bartlett of the County of Richm. altho. weak in Body yet of Sound and perfect mind and Memory thanks be to god - therefore) Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye Doe constitute ordain and appoint this my Last will and Testament (that is to say) Principally and First of all I Recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian Like and Decent Manner at the Discretion of my Ex’rs Nothing - Doubting but that at the gonerall I shall Receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God, and as [Towhing] Such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this Life I give Devise and Dispose of the same in the following Manner and Form ---- Iprimus: I give and Bequeath to my Nephew Mary Brukey on Iron pott Containing Three - Gallons at the Day of her Marriage - Item: I give and Bequeath unto my Dearly Beloved wife Mary all and Singular my Estate that is to say) the use of it Dureing her widowhood and after that to be Divised and Disposed of in the Following Manner and form -- -- Item: My will and Desire is that the Remainder part of my Estate after my Wife Marrys or if not after her Decease my Be Equally Divided among all my Children after my Debts are paid -- -- p 539.
