Richmond County, Virginia Will Book 9, 1794 - 1822 Library of Virginia Microfilm Reel 25 Page 307 In the name of God Amen, August 24th 1795. I Abner Jones being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind that is appointed once to die I recommend my soal to God who gave it me and for this worldly affairs which it hath pleased God to bless me with I give as followeth, I give to my brother Thomas Jones, all the Land whereon I now live, which Tract contains one hundred and Thirty Acres, also I give to my brother before mentioned all the money that shall arise from the sale of my stock & furniture after all my Just Debts be paid if any remain I give my Horse bridle & saddle to my brother Thomas Jones which is to become his imediately after my decd. my desire is my land rented out for the most that can be had for it & that it be paid to him with the other Estate before given him when he shall arise to the age of twenty one years & if he should die before he arises to twenty one years of age & without heir lawfully begotten, then my will and desire is that the Land and other Estate above mention be given to my nece Elizabeth Coats Daughter of James Coats & her heirs of her body lawfully begotten or to be begotten and appoint my friend George Sisson my Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking all others In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my Seal the day & year above written ~ Teste ~ John Smith Jr - Martin Sisson - Abner (his X mark) Jones Randal Sisson - At a Court held for Richmond County the 7th day of April 1800 This Last Will and Testament of Abner Jones decd. was proved in Court by the oath of Martin Sisson one of the witnesses thereto and ordered to lie for further proof And at a Court of quarterly sessions held for said County the 2nd day of March 1807 The Same was further proved by the oath of John Smith another witness to the same Subscribed and admitted to Record - Teste.
