Will of Mary Ann Moore, 1827 - Richmond Co., VA In the name of God Amen. I Mary Ann Moore of the County of Richmond, being weak of body but sound in mind and memory do make this my last will & testament. I desire and request all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid by my executor hereafter named and the balance of my estate pleavd in the following manner- Item 1st I give unto John Alderson a negro boy called Westley, my desk and a half dozen of silver so-spoons Item 2 I give unto Sally Harris my loom, slavs Harnes & belonging to the loom and spinning wheel & cards one looking glass, one tea kettle and ten dollars in cash Item 3. I give my wearing apparel to Sally Harris, Nancy Lewis and Polly Braun to be equally divided- Item 4th The balance of my property consisting of negro Jerry, Charlotte, & Child, my stock of every description household & kitchen furniture & be sold at public sale and the proceeds with the money after paying the legacy to Sally Harris shall be equally divided between Thomas B. Barrick, Thornton Barrick, George Berrick and Griffin Barrick - I leave John Alderson my executor to this my last will revoking all others - (?) my hand and seal this 13th day of June 1827. Was presented in court by John Alderson the executor therein named and being proved by the oaths of Vincent Bramham and Henry Packett two of the subscribing witnesses thereto was admitted to record and on the notion of the said John Alderson who took the oath of an executor and with Geoge Berrick, Griffin Berrick Thornton Berrick his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of seventy five hundred dollars conditioned according to law a certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
