Will of George Thrift,1800 - Richmond Co. VA Will Book 9, 1794 - 1822 (Indexed) Library of Virginia Microfilm Reel 25 Page 133 In the name of God amen. I George Thrift of Richmond County & Lunenburgh Parish being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament as followeth Vizt. First I request that all my Just Debts should be paid to whomsoever they shall be due and to them only Item I give and bequeath all the remainder of my Estate both real and personal to be equally divided between my four Children Mary Thrift, George Thrift, William Thrift, & Betsey Thrift, to them and their heirs forever ~ Item it is my request that my above named four children should have good and sufficient schooling ~ Item it is my request that my land should be annually rented till the oldest of my children come of full age and that then it shall be sold and the money Equally divided amongst the above named four children, Mary Thrift, George Thrift, William Thrift and Betsey Thrift ~ Item I request that all my negroes should be hired out annually for the benefit of my above named four children till such time as the Division takes place of my Estate ~ Lastly I Constitute and appoint my beloved friend Peter Northen senr. my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and in case of his death before my oldest Child comes of age my request is that [Mr.?] William Garland son of William Garland decd. in the fork of Totuskey should be my Executor in place of [Mr.?] Northen and I do hereby revoke Disallow and make void all former Wills made by me and declare this my last Will and Testament in Testamony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred ~ Signed Sealed and acknowledged George Thrift in the presents of us by the Testator for his last Will and Testament James Northen William Northen William Landman At a Court held for Richmond County the 2nd day of June 1800 This last Will and Testament of George Thrift decd. was proved in open Court by the oaths of the witnesses thereto and admitted to record and on the motion of Peter Northen [the?] Executor named in the said Will, who took the oath and entered into bond with security according to Law a Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form Teste B McCarty CRC Submitted by Patricia Tanner **************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
