RICHMOND, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Robert Davis, 29 May 1809 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Robert Davis of the City of Richmond do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit: First I recommend my soul to the Almighty who gave it me, and body to be buried in decent christian like manner. Secondly, I give my grandson Robert Davis Carran one hundred dollars, the reason I have not given my daughter any thing is that I have given her her portion before. Thirdly, I give to my beloved wife Mary Davis, after my just debts are paid, one third of all my estate in fee simple, the other two thirds I give to my son Isaac Davis, to him and his heirs forever. I further give to my son Isaac my watch, he accounting for her value. I appoint my wife Mary Davis Executrix and George W. Smith and John Curran Executors to this my Last Will and Testament. Holman Samuel Pridite Thomas Butler At a Monthly Court of Hustings Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse the 10th day of July 1809 This Will was proved by the oaths of N. Holman and Thomas Butler, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And Mary Davis, Executrix and George William Smith, an Executor in the said Will named, by writing under their hands and seals, which was proved by the oath of a witness thereto, having renounced the executonship of the said Will and the other Executor therein named living without the limits of this Commonwealth, on the motion of Isaac Davis, who made oath thereto and with Francis Piatti, Richard Hugheaand?, Benjamin G. Timberlake, his securities entered into and acknowledged above in the penalty of twelve hundred dollars, conditioned as the law directs, Certificate was granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration on the Estate of the said decedent with his said Will annexed in due form.
